Hello there from the desk of NORTHER BOYS NEWS. My name is Wayne and I have lived in the north for a mere fourty years now. In that time I have truely learned to exist, adapt and make do with what ever I had at my disposel. I have camped out for a total of eight months one year, winter camped in teperatures as cold as 30 below zero and backpacked all over the north. I owed a sled dog touring business having over 90 sled dogs at one time. I have traveled the total lenght of Michigans Upper Peninsula 625 miles by dog team taking a total of seven days and six nights. I've bicycled nearly 100 miles in one day, canoed 30 miles in one day and hiked almost 20 miles with 55 pounds in my pack. Now this is'nt intended to brag or fly my own flag its just some the things I have done while living in the north. I attended Lake Superior State University just because it was in the north and I could catch excellent Brook trout. I also loved to hike and rock climb in Canada's northern region, which was only across the international bridge where I went to college. The north has been very good to me and yet very harsh all in the same day.
I have sat out under the northern lights for hours watching in true amazment at how the colors change from blue to green to red. Since I have had some great times in the north and I have learned many things while living up north I have found that its time to share some of my experiences and nowledge with people who live in the north. I think that everyone will truely find humor and some interesting material here at Northernboysnews. I have taught some backpacking classes and fishing seminars along with photography and bird watching, woodworking and rockclimbing. I've been a Department of Natural Resources Park Officer, Recreation Director, Tour Guide and many other interesting jobs. The world has been my oyster and I have been cultivating the sea of experience now for 25 years.
